Gilles Vandenoostende

Hi, I'm Gilles Vandenoostende - designer, illustrator and digital busybody with a love of language, based in Ghent, Belgium.

  • I came up with the idea to have posters treated with glow-in-the-dark UV paint

  • The client was very demanding, and so I had to pull out all the creative stops. I ended up making a lot of different versions.

  • The final, Loi Evin-compliant version.

Cubanisto was a new rhum-flavoured beer brand that launched a pitch late 2014 for an agency to handle the launch campaign. Working for Saatchi & Saatchi as a consulting designer, I helped create a series of 4 posters that ended up winning us the pitch. Then in early 2015 I had to help create the actual visual style that would be part of the initial roll-out in France, which involved a lot of back-and-forth between the client, the various agencies, and the legal department (because of France's infamous Loi Evin) and resulted in a huge collection of posters that you can see above.
